See where time and money are lost.

Frontlink measures rate, downtime and scrap per line, per order and per shift. So you see where things go wrong while it still matters, and what an order really cost.

From one number to the cause.

An analytics screen for one line and one week. Follow the numbers: from the OEE figure to where the time went, why, when, what it cost and what you do about it.

  1. 1 / 6OEE in one number

Availability times performance times quality, over the time the line was planned. Planned maintenance and hours without demand don't count.

  2. 2 / 6Where the time went

From 80 planned hours to 56.8 good hours. The waterfall shows which part went to breakdowns, changeovers, running too slowly and scrap.

  3. 3 / 6The reasons behind it

Every stop has a reason from the operator. Added up and sorted, you see straight away what to tackle first.

  4. 4 / 6When it happened

Per shift and per day. Tuesday night stands out. Click it and you see that night's stops.

  5. 5 / 6What it costs

Frontlink calculates the cost per good unit from material, labour, machine and overhead. If a rate is missing, it says so instead of guessing.

  6. 6 / 6Ask why

In plain language: where did the loss come from? The answer comes from the line's records, with the numbers alongside.

How OEE works.

Three questions, multiplied into one number. Calculated over the time the line was planned according to its calendar.

Availability84%

Did the line run when it should?

67.2 of 80 hours
Performance89%

Did it run at the right speed?

against the target speed
Quality95%

Was what came out good?

good of good plus scrap
OEE71%

Planned maintenance, holidays and hours without demand are in the line's calendar and don't count.

Every stop counts in the right place.

Every stop reason belongs to a type of loss. So a breakdown counts as availability, running too slowly as performance and scrap as quality. Planned work falls outside.

Availability
  • Mechanical breakdown
  • Electrical fault
  • Format changeover
  • Material not staged
  • Operator unavailable
Performance
  • Ran too slowly
  • Minor stops
Quality
  • Startup reject
  • Production reject
  • Quality hold
Outside OEE
  • Planned maintenance
  • No demand

You set the reasons and their groups yourself, per company.

Too slow compared to what?

Performance is measured against a target speed per item and line. It comes in as a suggestion from your ERP and is approved by someone who knows the line.

Target speed
Shampoo 250 ml · Filling line B
  1. Suggested by ERP30 pcs/min
  2. Measured, last 20 orders34 pcs/min
  3. Approved33 pcs/min
Approved by shift lead · 12 Sep
  • One standard per item and line

The same bottle runs faster on one line than on another. That's fine.

  • Approved, not guessed

A standard only counts once someone has approved it.

  • The same timing as planning

The speed you plan with is the speed you measure against.

What a good unit really costs.

Frontlink calculates the actual cost per order: material that went in, hours of people and machines, and overhead. Divided by what came out good.

Is something missing?

If a rate isn't set, or material hasn't been booked in your ERP yet, Frontlink leaves that part empty and says why. No estimate that looks real.

Ask Frontlink.

Frontlink knows the context of your orders, lines and stock. You ask a question in plain language, Frontlink works it out and prepares what is needed. Where it matters, you decide.

FrontlinkPerformance

Where did we lose the most production time this week?

  • Added up downtime per line and per reason
  • Compared with last week
  • Highlighted the biggest cause

Most time was lost at the labeller on line 2: 3 hours and 20 minutes over five faults. Changeovers on line 1 follow with 2 hours. Shall I prepare a maintenance request for the labeller?

Frequently asked questions.

How do I keep track of how fast my machines run?

Frontlink counts what each machine makes, through a connection or with a tap on the tablet at the line. You see the rate next to the standard speed, and the reason for every stop.

Do we need machine connections?

A connection through the edge gateway is the most accurate, but you can also start with operators recording on the tablet.

How reliable are the OEE numbers?

For every number Frontlink shows which data it is based on and where data is missing. So you know how much you can rely on it.

Can we see costs per order?

Yes. Frontlink compares planned and actual hours, materials and scrap per order, and links that to the prices in your ERP.
