Plastics processing, moulds and machines in one plan.
Injection moulding, extrusion and thermoforming to order. Frontlink plans per machine and mould, keeps changeovers short and shows live what each machine is doing.
One order, its whole route.
In make-to-order manufacturing each order runs its own route past workstations. Follow the numbers: what Frontlink tracks for one order, from routing to delivery date.
- 1 / 6The order from your ERP
Order, quantity, delivery date and routing come from your ERP. Here: 40 frames for Van Dijk Techniek.
- 2 / 6Four operations, their own workstations
Sawing, welding, powder coating, assembly. Each operation can only run on workstations that can do it. Frontlink knows which.
- 3 / 6Ready to move on?
Is the material there, are the workstations capable, does the plan fit? What's missing is shown with the order.
- 4 / 6What the floor reports
Welding is in progress: 26 of 40 counted. Sawing is done. The rest is planned.
- 5 / 6Late, and visible
Welding runs a day over. Frontlink shows the delay and moves the rest of the route along.
- 6 / 6Ask Frontlink
Will we still make Friday? The answer comes from the route and the plan, with a proposal you approve.
What is different in this industry.
- The mould decides
A product can only run on the machines its mould fits. Frontlink plans per mould and machine and shows when a mould is free.
- Mould changes cost hours
Changing a mould and drying the material takes time. Frontlink groups orders by mould and material and records each changeover.
- Scrap at start-up
The first shots are often scrap. Frontlink records scrap per order and reason, so you see which moulds and materials cost the most.
What it looks like in practice.
A customer doubles an order for housings. Frontlink shows that the mould is free on machine 4 on Thursday, that the material needs four hours of drying first and which other orders move.
Example with fictional data.
- Material drying, 4 hoursThu 06:00
- Mould change on machine 4Thu 10:00
- Production, 18,000 shotsThu to Fri
Solutions that deliver the most here.
- PlanningA plan that knows what is really happening on the floor. Orders come from your ERP, progress comes from the line, and when something moves the warehouse, sales and the customer know straight away.
- PerformanceFrontlink measures rate, downtime and scrap per line, per order and per shift. So you see where things go wrong while it still matters, and what an order really cost.
- Production and operatorsAt the line, operators see the order, the steps and the instruction for each step. Materials are scanned, checks recorded and the shift hands over digitally. No paper, no retyping.
Problems we often see here.
- Changeovers and line clearance are unmanagedChangeovers take too long and nobody can prove the line was cleared properly.
- Scrap reasons are unknown and yield loss isn't actionableScrap is accepted as 'normal' because nobody can tie it to specific causes, machines, or conditions.
- Downtime happens, but nobody knows whyStops are frequent, but without structured reason codes tied to machine events, the top causes stay invisible.
Frequently asked questions.
Can Frontlink read our machines?
Yes. Cycle counts and stops come in through the edge gateway over OPC UA or MQTT. You can also start with entry on the tablet.
Does it keep track of mould maintenance?
Frontlink counts the shots per mould and shows when maintenance is due, so you plan it between orders.
Can we see the cost per order?
Yes. Machine time, material and scrap per order give the real cost, compared with the quote.
