Business Central and the floor, on the same page.
Sales and production orders from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central reach the floor with their items and dates. Output, consumption and lots go back to the same order.
Business Central and Frontlink.
Frontlink connects to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central through its standard APIs. Sales orders, production orders, items, routings and locations come from Business Central; output, consumption, lots and scrap are posted back to the same order.
It suits manufacturers that run finance and sales in Business Central but plan and register production on paper, whiteboards or spreadsheets, and want the floor and the ERP to show the same figures.
- Direction
- Both ways
- Data exchanged
- Sales and production orders, items, routings, bins, output and consumption
- How it connects
- Business Central API with a Microsoft Entra app registration
- Access
- Granted by your IT or Business Central partner, per company
- Typical setup time
- Two to three weeks, including a sandbox test
What moves between them.
- Orders become planned work
Sales and production orders arrive with items, quantities and due dates, and land on the planning board.
- Items, routings and locations stay leading
Master data stays in Business Central. Frontlink reads it, so a new item or bin is there on the floor as well.
- Output and consumption are posted back
Finished quantities, used lots and scrap are posted to the order, so stock and cost are right without a separate journal.
How we connect it.
- Your IT or partner grants access
Access is granted in your Microsoft environment with a dedicated app registration and only the permissions needed.
- We agree on the fields
Together with you, and your Business Central partner if you have one, we decide what Frontlink reads and what it posts.
- Tested on a sandbox first
We connect to a sandbox company first. Only when the postings are right does production follow.
Other integrations.
Where you see it in Frontlink.
- Orders and customer contactRequests arrive by email, as PDF or Excel. Frontlink calculates the quote, prepares the order in your ERP and keeps the customer informed all the way to shipment.
- PlanningA plan that knows what is really happening on the floor. Orders come from your ERP, progress comes from the line, and when something moves the warehouse, sales and the customer know straight away.
- Warehouse and stockFrontlink knows per lot what is there, where it is and how long it is good for. The warehouse picks by shelf life, stock matches what was really used, and a lot can be traced in one click.
Frequently asked questions.
Do we need to change our Business Central setup?
Usually not. Frontlink uses the standard interfaces. If you use extensions or custom fields, we look at them together with your partner.
Does it also work with older Dynamics NAV?
Business Central online is the standard route. For NAV or on-premise versions we look at the options with you.
Does Frontlink use the manufacturing module of Business Central?
If you use it, Frontlink reads its production orders and routings and posts output and consumption to them. If you do not, Frontlink can work from sales orders alone.
Who maintains the connection?
We do. Updates to Business Central are tested by us before they reach your connection.
