Databases

Your own databases, read and filled without exports.

Many factories keep data in their own databases: label data, quality archives, reporting tables. Frontlink reads the tables you choose and writes results back, so the systems and reports built on them keep working.

Databases and Frontlink.

Frontlink connects to relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB and Oracle. It reads item specifications, label data or customer settings from your own tables and writes production results, lots, checks and downtime to tables you choose.

Databases inside your network are reached through the edge gateway in the factory, so no port has to be opened to the internet. Your BI tool, such as Power BI, keeps reading from the database it knows, now with live data from the floor.

What moves between them.

  1. Existing tables are read

Item specifications, label data or customer settings in your own tables are used in Frontlink, without maintaining them twice.

  2. Results are written back

Output, lots, checks and downtime go to a table you choose, so your reports and dashboards fill themselves.

  3. One place for your analysts

Your BI tool keeps reading from the database it knows, now with live data from the floor in it.

How we connect it.

  1. A dedicated database user

You create a user for Frontlink with rights on only the tables that are needed. Read-only if that is all you want.

  2. Reached through the edge gateway

A database inside your network is reached through the edge gateway, so nothing has to be opened to the internet.

  3. We agree on the tables

Together we decide which tables and columns Frontlink reads and where it writes, and test on a copy first.

Frequently asked questions.

Which databases are supported?

Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB and Oracle, and other databases with a standard SQL interface. We check your version with you.

Will Frontlink slow down our database?

No. Frontlink reads in small batches at quiet moments or on changes, and we agree on the load with your IT.

Can Frontlink only read, without writing?

Yes. Read-only access is enough if you only want to use existing data in Frontlink.

Can Power BI read Frontlink data?

Yes, through a database table that Frontlink fills, or directly through the Frontlink API.
